Sir, - Last week's
Church Times provided, as always, an
illuminating snapshot of that part of the Body of Christ that is the
Church of England. With the fine example of Christian community set
by the Dean and Chapter of Lincoln Cathedral, and the tireless
worker for unity and tolerance that is the Bishop of Richborough, is
it any wonder that the burning question on the lips of the laity,
those living the gospel on the cutting edge of society, is: "Should
I take my dog into church?"
To take our children to church is one thing, but how anyone could
even contemplate inflicting such cruelty on an innocent animal is
beyond me.
