St. Patrick's Day meet

Sir, - The late Cardinal Francis Bourne reminded a Cathedral full of children "kindness is obligatory upon us because God made the animals and, in a sense, the Fatherhood of God extends also to them."

It is a matter of regret that publicity is given to the Abbot Kevin Smith, C.R.P. of the Premonstratension abbey of Kilnacrott, Co. Cavan (The Universe, 23 March). He is a keen member of the hunt, and as such sets a poor example to young people who should be taught to love animals, and not to kill them.
