'Points'

Thank you for all the recent publicity you have given to our cause and animal welfare in general, through the columns of the Catholic Herald.

The Catholic Church in general has been very slow in getting involved with the matter of animal welfare, but there are signs of a gradual awakening. Incidentally, I was charmed to see our logo of monk and puss gracing the back page of your Christmas issue.

The plight of animals and their pitiful state in laboratories can quite easily be compared to the equally pitiful lot of the third world. In days gone by we would say "we didn't know", now it's simply "we do know, but the vast majority of us don't care enough to do 'owt' about it".
