"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the same
time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel
called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
Believers are sometimes referred to as a pastor’s “flock” (as in a “flock of sheep”). I think it is time that the flocks wake up to the fact that most of their “shepherds” have strayed far from the True Shepherd’s teachings and have become stumbling blocks in the path of spiritual growth.
For several years I have been saying that Christianity has been hijacked. I also think that the self-indulgence encouraged by the purveyors of “cheap grace” is anti-Christian. In a nutshell, cheap grace preaches salvation without responsibility and/or forgiveness without true repentance.
These professing “Christians” throw the word “legalism” at anyone who suggests that true Christianity is consistent with self-restraint, and to even mention the word “works” in a positive context is a sure way to get accused of being “legalistic.”
Luke 17:1-2
1. And He said to His disciples, "It is inevitable that stumbling blocks should come, but woe to him through whom they come!
2. "It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck
and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should cause one of these
little ones to stumble.
