Clean Water – 18 June 2007
As I was reading about the history of sanitation technology and the
improvement in health brought about by the introduction of clean water
in the 1800’s, I thought about the way water that’s safe to drink is
taken for granted.
Reading about the deaths, in this country, that in the past were
caused by typhoid was a reminder of what is still going on in many other
countries of the world where safe water is not available.
I also thought about the contamination of water that is occurring
around factory farms that are proliferating. Isn’t it interesting that
the uphill battle waged by England’s Edwin Chadwick and America’s Lemuel
Shattuck to improve sanitation appears to be compromised nowadays by
powerful flesh and dairy industries? Seems like a day doesn’t go by when
you don’t hear about the contamination of some food product caused by
bacteria from animal agriculture. The only way to ensure that this food
contamination ends is to go vegan.

"Joyful Curmudgeon"
An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the
same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the
world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true
peace and compassion.Blog
