Have you noticed how the human race is on the path of
self-destruction and refuses to acknowledge this fact and its primary
cause?
When there were fewer people on this planet, it was less noticeable.
Now everything appears to be working together faster for the destruction
of the earth; and we have no one to blame but ourselves.
Talk about climate change, global warming, the environment is just
that: talk – and as expected – politicized.
Older people talk about the condition of the earth that they are
leaving as a legacy to their children and grandchildren; but almost no
one is willing to acknowledge the “elephant in the living room”: the
world-wide, out-of-control increase of animal agriculture that is far
more detrimental to humans than the carbon dioxide emissions that they
keep talking about. It’s getting downright silly how the media keep
regurgitating the same old “what you can do now” advice about changing
light bulbs, adjusting thermostats, renting clean cars, etc.
It really all started thousands of years ago with the herding
(hurting?) culture. Since there were a lot fewer humans on the planet in
those days, the destruction wasn’t as noticeable. Down through history,
animal exploitation was also the source of the numerous plagues that
helped keep the population down.
Besides contributing the much-talked-about carbon dioxide, livestock
(mostly cows, chickens and pigs) produce 65% of human-related nitrous
oxide and 37% of methane. Compare that to only 20% nitrous oxide
produced by all industrial sources that include the production of nylon
and nitric acid, and the burning of fossil fuel in internal combustion
engines. Also, the attack of nitrous oxide on the ozone layer causes an
increase of UV light striking the earth’s surface. Nitrous oxide is the
third largest greenhouse gas contributor to global warming, behind
carbon dioxide and methane.
Of course, when it’s too late, people will whine and complain that
someone should have warned them and will insist that they would have
listened and taken action to correct the problem. Isn’t that the way it
has always been? Hindsight always seems to be better than foresight.
No excuse now! Here’s the warning!
