A few days ago, we received good news in the form of “Good
Medicine,” the quarterly publication of Physicians Committee for
Responsible Medicine (PCRM).
PCRM is an organization that we support because they really make a
positive difference in people’s health, as well as in the lives of other
animals. Their work with diabetics and cancer survivors is outstanding.
When asked why she supports PCRM, another longtime member, Kim Howe,
said that it is because PCRM presents a scientific basis for what it
promotes. In her words: “I like the credibility of having compassionate
physicians and scientists reaching as many people as possible to educate
them.” (Summer 2007 issue of “Good Medicine” a Physicians Committee for
Responsible Medicine publication) We wholeheartedly agree!
Featured in this issue are “Success Stories” with photos of diabetics
who have tackled diabetes with simple diet changes. Neal Barnard, M.D.,
President of PCRM, has a new book out titled Dr. Neal Barnard’s
Program for Reversing Diabetes. About the book: “If you have
diabetes or are concerned about developing it, this program could change
the course of your life. Dr. Barnard’s groundbreaking clinical studies,
the latest funded by the National Institutes of Health, show that
diabetes responds dramatically to a low-fat, vegetarian diet. Rather
than just compensating for malfunctioning insulin like other treatment
plans, Dr. Barnard’s program helps repair how the body uses insulin.
Includes 50 delicious recipes. 288 pgs. $25.95”
