A Mary T. Hoffman Commentary from All-Creatures.org

"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

God’s Creatures Ministry – 31 August 2007
By Mary T. Hoffman

The first issue of the newsletter of God’s Creatures Ministry arrived in the mail the other day. This excellent quotation is by Jan Fredericks, M.A., L.P.C., the founder of God’s Creatures Ministry:

Animals are important to God who put them in our care to protect and care for. Hebrews 4:13 says, “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” There are many scriptures supporting our call to be God’s servants on earth and creation is waiting for the revelation of the children of God – hoping to be set free from slavery to corruption (see Romans 8:19-22). Ultimately, Jesus will redeem the whole world (cosmos), but until that day, we keep busy doing God’s will on earth as it is in heaven.

Jan Fredericks, a Christian Educator and licensed counselor, is also Chair of Catholic Concern for Animals in the U.S.
