A Mary T. Hoffman Commentary from All-Creatures.org

"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

Eat Your Vegetables – 24 October 2007
By Mary T. Hoffman

We’ve all seen those cartoons and comedies showing a mother standing by the table and telling her child to “eat your vegetables!”

Well, that is good advice, as proven by many studies – especially if you want to keep your brain young. According to a 6-year study in Chicago that tested 2,000 seniors, those who ate more than two servings of vegetables per day appeared about five years younger by certain indicators than those who ate few or no vegetables. The most beneficial veggies appeared to be green leafies, such as spinach, kale, and collards. (From “101 Reasons Why I’m a Vegetarian” by Pamela Rice, 2007)

With all the diseases in the news, including those that affect the brain, you’d think that people would wise up and go vegan, enjoying a plant-based diet of mostly non-processed foods.
