Drugs in Drinking Water – 10 March 2008
According to a report on CNN, an investigation found
pharmaceuticals in the drinking water of 41 million Americans.
Although concentrations of these drugs are said to be minute and
utilities say that the water is safe, low-level combinations are said
to impact human cells and wildlife.
With so much bottled water being sold it is interesting that,
according to this report, bottlers, who often repackage tap water, do
not typically test for drugs.
Hearing this report made me wonder why infants and children weren’t
mentioned. Couldn’t these “minute” concentrations, which may not pose a
serious threat to the health and well-being of adults, have a
deleterious effect on those who are in the process of growing?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the
same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the
world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true
peace and compassion.
