"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

Retreating Rather Than Advancing – 17 March 2008
By Mary T. Hoffman

The efforts of States to encourage their residents to hunt are an obvious step backward. It doesn’t matter what ploys they use, be it nostalgia, “tradition,” “enjoying nature,” et cetera; the bottom line that motivates these States is just that – the bottom line.

Isn’t it ironic that some public officials, who should know better, are willing to risk human lives by pushing for more killing of nonhumans for fun by children and women? And for what? To increase their revenues. This is not only cynical and shortsighted – it is just plain evil, especially since the recent highly publicized shootings of college students. When people learn to kill any living being it destroys their empathy and turns them into sociopaths.

When you think about it, isn’t it irrational to claim that you have to go out with gun in hand to “enjoy nature”?
