"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the same
time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel
called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
This week’s local free advertising paper has outdone even itself in hypocrisy!
It’s hard to believe that they can’t see that their weekly Bible verse contradicts their unbelievably hard-hearted articles. Case in point: This week’s Bible verse from Psalm[s] 46:10: “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” And their main feature? – “Big Game Guide” complete with disgusting photos and hype promoting the killing of God’s most innocent of creatures.
Can you imagine an article that starts with: “If you’re like most hunters, you probably enjoy the thrill of the chase as much as you do the actual kill” and ends with: “It is unethical not to recover a wounded deer”? What doublespeak! How can it be ethical (in the first place) to track down and shoot for fun God’s creature who has his/her own right to enjoy life?
Another article – this one promoting the use of handguns – starts out with: “You’re an avid (There’s that word again!) hunter with a wide range of equipment to prove it, plus a few trophies mounted on your walls.” It goes on with: “the latest trend…is hunting with a handgun.”
Obviously, the god who enjoys the shedding of innocent blood is not the God who created Heaven and Earth.
