"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the same
time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel
called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
For today I’ve chosen this poem that I found in an old book of Emily Dickinson’s poetry. I thought it would be appropriate, since it’s about winter, and today is a beautiful February day with the sun shining on the snow-covered frozen lake outside my window.
Winter is good, his hoar delights
Italic flavor yield
To intellects inebriate
With summer or the world;
Generic as a quarry,
And hearty as a rose,
Invited with asperity,
But welcome when he goes.
