Feedback from the students of Worthington Kilbourne High School, Columbus, Ohio - September 28, 2006

Student - 17

Summary:

  • Tigers are an endangered species and on the way to extinction because of many environmental and circumstantial reasons.
  • Products made from tigers such as fur and medicines are also quickly killing the tiger population. All of the tiger poaching for various reasons is not only killing tigers, but their cubs as well.
  • Everyone needs to become involved in one way or another to help save not only the tigers, but all the other endangered animals.

Opinion:

I really enjoyed the speakers presentation. He was one of the few speakers that I stayed completely involved with the entire time he was speaking. All of his stories were really interesting and he seemed to really know what he was talking about. Since he had all of that hands on experience, he was much more knowledgeable than most people would be. I was also amazed how connected everything is. He made all of the connections between the environment, the people living in it and the animals. He showed the connections between the tigers losing their habitat and people cutting down all the trees in it, and then people breeding cows leading to dry and desert land. I was just shocked at how interconnected everything was in the environment.

I was also very interested in his cause. He seemed to be very solution oriented with all his travels. He is not one of the "Ill raise money and send it" kind of people but he is more hand on. His presentation was great and it made me want to go and join his travel group. I also loved the fact that he not only worked with the tigers but he went out to try to stop all the people selling animal products, like medicine and furs.

The only thing that I would say that I didnt like about the presentation was that we were not able to ask questions. I know that wasnt his intention, but I just wanted to ask some questions about his work and travels.
