Feedback from the students of Worthington Kilbourne High School, Columbus, Ohio - September 28, 2006

Student - 35

Summary:

  • We cant just save the tigers; we need to save their habitat also. Because their habitat is being diminished, the tigers have smaller and smaller areas to live in, therefore their numbers are getting smaller and smaller.
  • There are many products on the market that have tiger parts in them. They are illegal in most places, but in some cases in those places they are even for sale. Two examples of places it is on sale are New York City and San Francisco.
  • In the 1940s there were more than 10,000 tigers left in India. In the 1990s the number of tigers left in India was around 1,800.

Opinion:

I dont believe that in Anthony Marrs presentation there was anything to argue with. Anthony Marr created an amazing facts-filled presentation that kept your attention for both periods. I think the thing that made Anthony Marrs presentation so interesting were all his slides of his trips to India, his humor which brought the presentation to life, and also I liked the movie clip. I think it was a really good way to start off the presentation. There were many things that everyone liked. Even though I believe what Anthony Marr is saying is very true and I agreed with his whole presentation, one thing I agrees with but would not actually do was to go to India to help with the tiger reserves. The reason I wouldnt go to India with him to try to help save the tigers is because I could not just lave my life for that long to save something my life is truly not dedicated to.
