Letter from Miyuki Bailey about Animals and Christianity - 1 Sep 2005
I read articles on your web site. It is very encouraging to me to know there are Christians who believe in animal rights. Many occasions you are either a Christian or an animal rights activist, not both. I truly believe that God intended to put fellow animals for purposes other than to be dominated and manipulated by men.
I am a vegetarian and proud of it. My dilemma is that the majority of Christians are so naive about how animals are exploited in this world. They have no idea how the meat they eat came from painful suffering of the animals. All they say is "well, after the fall, God said it's ok to eat animals." That was what my pastor's wife told me. I believe in Edenic life style. I believe in Genesis Ch 1 verses 28-29. I quit going to churches. Many churches are geared toward salvation of human being only. I believe animals go to heaven and both animals and human beings should be treated equally, with love and compassion.
Please give me your opinion

Thank you very much for writing to as and expressing you feelings. We feel the same way, and found your letter very encouraging to our ministry, because we are trying very heard to fill the void of compassion left by the churches.
In 1998 we retired from church ministry to concentrate full time on our internet ministry, because of the hardness of heart we encountered toward the suffering of animals and in some cases people outside their "circle" among both clergy and lay people. Today we are having a lot of success in getting our message to the people we can help, such as you.
If we can help in any way, please let us know.
In the Love of the Lord,
Frank and Mary
