Letter from Sarah Johnson about Eggs on Campus - 13 Feb 2006

Hello!

I visited your web site for the first time today and was very thankful to you for all your efforts to demonstrate the link between compassion for all God's creatures and our Christian beliefs. I found you while doing research for a project on which I am working. The group Speak Out for Species (SOS) at the University of Georgia in Athens is working to try to get our food services to purchase only cage-free eggs. We are now in the process of planning our campaign. Our chairman has contacted the food service director and received a lukewarm response.

We are now anticipating the need to develop a swell of local support. We believe that most people are unaware of the horrible suffering these animals endure. We have discussed the possibility of creating a public display and would like to include large reproductions of photos showing this horror for what it really is. I was wondering if you would allow us to use some of your excellent photos for this purpose. We are also interested in any suggestions you might have to help us reach our goal.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Sarah Johnson

Dear Sarah:

Thank you for your kind words and your efforts to help.

Part of the luke warm response your are getting has to do with the cost difference, which is a hard nut to crack when people are working on a tight budget. Other schools have had more success in having vegan options and large salad and fruit bars, which do not cost more. In the later case, your campaign would shift to one of convincing your fellow students and staff to not eat the products of tortured animals.

We hope this helps.

In the Love of the Lord,

Frank and Mary
