Letter from N. R. about Mourning the Loss of Her Beloved Terry - 24 May 2006

I read My Story About Toby and it made me cry, thinking of my own loss of a very dear friend, and understanding the terrible pain. Animal lovers could feel very lonely and so often unable to talk about the void that such a loss could leave in one's heart. I still live with that void.

Dear N:

Thank you for writing. You are not alone concerning your feelings of loss and the empty feeling we have inside. We've been there many times ourselves.

We have tried to make a portion of our web site available to people who wish to make their feelings known as you have, and to be comforted by the words of others.

If you'd like to write a story about your companion animal, we'd be happy to publish it, along with any photos you might like to accompany it.

In the Love of the Lord,

Frank and Mary

Thank you, Mary and Frank,

I am touched you found the time to write me. I will think about your offer.

For the last two years since I've lost Terry (photo attached), I can hardly say something about her without bursting in tears. Even now when I write this message! As you said in your story about Toby, I had a very different connection and special relationship with her, and my poor judgment choices actually killed her. When I feel ready and stronger, I will send you her story.

Thank you for your kindness.

N.
