Letter from Jenny Moxham to The Weekly Times about Live Export Cruelty - 30 May 2007
The Weekly Times, 30 May 2007 (Farming newspaper)
Mr McGauren recently announced that we would begin live export trading with Libya ... a country that has been given the lowest rating possible regarding political rights and civil liberties. A country where political prisoners are held for years without charge or trial, the judiciary is controlled by the state, there is no freedom of speech. no elections .… and, guess what... no laws to protect animals.
Despite the fact that Mr. McGauren was recently shown footage of the immense cruelty currently being inflicted on Australian animals in neighboring Egypt, it seems he can't wait to abandon more animals to similar terror and suffering in Libya.
