Re: New Iberia primate facility
Dear Secretary Vilsack,
As a long-time animal activist I want to thank you very much for having Terry Moran on Nightline announce that you will be doing an investigation into animal welfare standards at the New Iberia research facility, following their segment this week. We have known for years that all primates in all labs are treated with similar disdain, brutality and overall lack of concern for their sad lives.
One of the reasons we have this information is because of the work of Michael Budkie, founder of SAEN (Stop Animal Exploitation Now!) who has garnered thousands upon thousands of pages, from government records, documenting the mistreatment of primates.
Please visit his site.
You can reach him directly:
l will be happily holding you to your promise to conduct this investigation as soon as possible to end at least some of the misery these animals have endured for decades. We have not been exaggerating the atrocities.
I encourage you to proactively support whistleblowers to come forward.
I encourage you to consider eliminating many useless taxpayer-funded experiments, such as whether or not nicotine is addictive.
I encourage you to stop H.R. 801 that will cut back on public access to these kinds of government records.
Please let me know that you received this fax. Iím available if you have any suggestions about what I can do to help you help the animals.
