Reverence for Wildlife
By Butterflies Katz
http://www.veganpoet.com

I entered a storybook, flowing brook, flower-filled scene
All around was a landscape of sunlit shades of green,
Except for the man-made goods that I brought to the scene;
The one scattered with many colors amongst the green.
I thought, If I were naked and without all this stuff,
I might find living in the wilderness a bit rough.
A new reverence for wildlife took hold of my mind.
There are things that wildlife knows better than humankind!|
They live ALL of their moments in that beautiful scene;
the one where a wide open sky meets up with the green.

Thunder and lightning drove me away from the scene,
to a neighboring town that was devoid of green.
I peeked in a shop window on the main street in town
The shocking sight turned my smile to a horrified frown.
There were hundreds of decapitated or skinned creatures;
Those who are, in some ways, our superiors and teachers.
Hides with faces filled with anguish when they met their demise
and elk heads to become trophies, all captured my eyes.
I quickly returned to water flowing by leaves of green,
Where was all the wildlife strangely absent from this scene?

Wildlife does not leave trash all over the forest ground.
Wildlife lives serenely; hardly making a sound.
They dont manage fires that leaves the air poisoned and dark.
They dont carve their initials in living Aspen bark.
Lets revere those who ADD to Earths breathtaking beauty.
Protecting our wildlife is our ethical duty.
This urgent message comes to you straight from the scene;
Where a brook flows by a barefoot soft carpet of green;
Where flowers of all colors, live together in peace,
in a forest scene, where sunlit shades of green, never cease.
