SENSELESS
© by M. Linda Steffey

To those in charge
She had no past
No name...
Her life thus far
The same.....
Hunger!

A gentle touch?
No one cared
To love her
All she had known
Was how to cry....
Suffer!

How sad!
Unwanted
Before you are born!
Just like so many
Others..
Forsaken, forlorn!

Donated for research
Or killed as surplus..
Abandoned to starve
Hit by a bus!

So...down the narrow hall
To the execution chamber
Her body
Disposed of
Without ceremony!

Twenty-five million homeless
In the Land of Plenty yet
So sad....
We shoot wildlife for fun
And have
Throw-away- pets!!.....
