She weaves before me
A tapestry
Of AMORE
Professor Lisa and me
She speaks of Vegan Ethics: AMORE
and that our universal religion’s truth is to LOVE
Amore, the tapestry of weaving together what it means to live actionable
love, into freedom for:
A- anymals,
M- medicine
O- oppression of humans
R- religion
E- environment.
Affinity we have for these, a poetic pondering of
the anymals we are, in the most endearing sense of the word,
the ones behind the bars
Or defenseless in a fury of fear
isolated
or the ones we fear
and shoot,
apex coyote and wolf
Gentle deer
the ones we drove into and then kept on drivin’ down the road
cursing over the broken fender
Or the medical lab
We hide our red lips behind
the walls of institutions do have eyes!
Desensitization at work of medical caretakers
So, they too won’t hurt so much
When they inject poison
After their chicken fillet
AMORE, to love or not to love
That is no longer the question
From that sermon up high
We cannot deny
The tapestry of beauty in the eyes
As they lay down to die, free at last.
This poem is to honour Professor Lisa Kemmerer
