A WINK IN LIFE
By M. Linda Steffey

We are but a wink in life
A dot, a speck of dust..
A heartbeat in eternity
Whom above all others must
Us our power wisely
In each thing we do and say
On earth, throughout our universe
Each night and through each day!

Life a balance delicate like
Wings of butterflies
Tread the earth with reverence
Its future with us lies..
We've destroyed such wonderous things
No more will they return
We're the brightest of living things
Yet we kill, tear down and burn!!

Our Lord in silent misery
Looks down with saddened eyes
Upon our greed and wicked ways
On rainy days He cries...
All life revolves not 'round us
Many forms...we're all the same
The Lord breathed life within us
From His good earth we came...

We are but a wink in life
A dot, a speck of dust
With wisdom and intelligence
When will we earn their trust?
When will we win over prejudice?
When will we love...not hate?
A new dawn come tomorrow
Let's change 'fore it's too late!...
