Breaking the Habit - Linkin Park
Poetry By Anthony James

Memories consume
Like opening the wound-
Iím picking me apart again-

You all assume-
Iím safe here in my room-
Because sheís here with me-
but her dark side looms-

I donít want to be the one
The battles always choose
ĎCause inside I realize
That Iím the one who used-

I donít know whatís worth fighting for
Or why Iíve come to this-
I donít know how I got this way,
Or whatís behind her kiss-
I know itís not alright like this,
I'll never be alright-
So Iím breaking the habit,
I'm breaking the habit, tonight!

Clutching my cure, I tightly lock the door
I try to catch my breath again,
I hurt much more than any time before
I take another pill again.

I donít want to be the one
The battles always choose
ĎCause inside I realize
That Iím the one who used-

I donít know whatís worth fighting for
Or why Iíve come to this-
I donít know how I got this way,
Or whatís behind her kiss-
I know itís not alright like this,
I'll never be alright-
So Iím breaking the habit,
I'm breaking the habit, tonight!

Iíll paint it on the walls
Ďcause Iím the one at fault
Iíll never use again,
I know how it all ends-

I now know whatís worth fighting for
And why I had to scream!
And now I have some clarity-
To show you what I mean-
I donít know how I got like this-
But I did start this fight,
So, Iím breaking this habit,
I'm breaking the habit,
I'm breaking the habit- Tonight!
