I’m longing to go home, Lord, I’m tired of life below,
There’s too much pain and heartache, winds of evil always blow.
Seasons are out of kilter, the weather’s out of control,
Nature is running amuck, there’s chaos from pole to pole.

We’ve been here far too long, Lord, we’re the dregs of history,
All the sins of the fathers, have increased dramatically.
Children aren’t showing respect, good role models are far and few,
Most marriages are folding, and crimes on the increase too.

Governments are failing, Lord, legislation’s often flawed,
There’re bullies and slave-drivers, tyrants who live by the sword.
Voices are being stifled that call for transparency,
Freedom is slipping away, and with it, democracy.

Poverty grows by the hour, and wealth is being misused,
Assistance is being withheld, and rights are being abused.
Oppression’s very common, and many merely exist,
It’s every man for himself, and, survival of the fittest.

Yes, it’s dog eat dog, do or die, children hurt, widows cry,
There’s misery and suffering, and more keeps going awry.
Pollution’s fouled our planet, there’s pestilence and disease,
Morality’s loosing ground, surrounded by vice and sleaze.

There are skirmishes and wars, disregard for rightful laws,
And there’s greater acceptance of all that Heaven abhors.
This world’s become a playground, for fraudsters, con-men and mobs,
And stress and anxiety, the health of many folk robs.

Yes, Heaven’s where I want to be, Lord, and I know You want me there,
I pray that You’ll come soon, Lord, for there’re times when I despair.
I know I’ll only make it, if You help me hang in here,
And daily send expressions, of Your tender loving care.
