Any swing that’s to the left, any swing that’s to the right,
Is a swing that’s unbalanced, if from the centre, it took flight.
Danger lies in the extremes, and on the track to either,
Hence why those whose thinking’s sound, very wisely, choose neither.

Yes, all throughout history, the pendulum’s been swinging,
Either to the left or right, because to either, folk keep clinging.
It’s time that this pendulum, stopped swinging either way,
But, sadly, such won’t happen, if folk keep making it sway.

After things swing to the left, it’s back to the right they go,
And back to the left again, when the right has lost its glow.
After things swing to the right, it’s back to the left they go,
And back to the right again, when the left has lost its glow.

Hence why wise politicians, and wise citizens who vote,
Very observantly, this political carousel, note.
And why such politicians, and such citizens who vote,
Only a balanced position, seek, endorse, and promote.

The excesses on the left, and the extremes on the right,
When it comes to politics, continually our lives blight.
Seems some haven’t learnt from history, that swinging either way,
Is pretty much how most things, invariably go astray.

Yes, some things on the left are good, some things on the right are good,
Thus, taking what’s good from both, is worthy, and such we should.
That’s how we get a balance, a balance that will serve us well,
Unlike those left and right swings, that repeatedly bring ill.

Just like a tightrope walker, the wise person treads with care,
Lest through moving left or right, they soon off track career.
And so too, wise politicians, lest they history repeat,
By not watching how they tread, and good governance defeat.
