LET GO AND LET GOD
Submitted 21 May 1998 by Debra Stitt

As children bring their broken toys,
with tears for us to mend,
I brought my broken dreams to God,
because He is my friend.
But then instead of leaving Him in
peace to work alone,
I hung around and tried to help,
with ways that were my own.
At last, I snatched it back again and cried,
"How can you be so slow?"
"My child" He said, "What could I do?
You never let it go."

Friends,

This is such a good reminder for us.  How often do we pour out our heart and soul to God only to limit Him because we try to control the outcome of things.  As Christians, we need to have enough faith that once we pray to our Lord and express our needs and concerns, we let Him do His work.  This does not mean that we can sit back and enjoy the ride; rather, it means that we need to let God guide us and we need to listen.  He knows the plight of our world and of our individual lives.  It may not seem, at a particular moment, that things are turning out favorably for us.  But, He knows what's best and at some point down the "narrow path," we will see the light!!!!!  Stay on the path.  Listen for His voice.  Follow His lead.   Be sensitive.  NEED HIM.

As Christians that are vegetarian, we have an even greater task before us. It's hard enough these days for people to come to Christ because they feel that they have to give up so much of "the world."  They don't realize what they will gain -- they only see what they perceive to be a loss.  People are
afraid of change; it's unfamiliar ground.  People feel that they're in control on familiar territory without realizing that He controls that too.  Let's move forward, step by step, and be the best example that we can be.  Let's show the world that to love, to really love, is to accept all of God's creatures for what they are.  To love means to look past the faults and to look for beauty.

I know I've said it before but I want to say it again.  I'm very proud and feel very blessed that I have been allowed the opportunity to be in fellowship with the people on the Veg-Christian discussion List.  I hope the List keeps on growing.  We all may be different but that's okay.  We have the most wonderful thing in life in common -- Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

God bless you all,

Debra
