We have lost part of ourselves
When a species disappears
And many have left this earth
In recent passing years!

Man with his technology
Could never make a whale
A bird to fly, a horse that runs
For his would surely fail...

God looked down, created all
And man gave each their names
But man with his destruction, greed
Our earth is not the same!

Waste, pollution, DDT....
Man will blacken out the sun!
He will kill all God's creatures
Call it "sport" and say it's fun!!..

He will tear down all the forests
Scar the mountains, poison seas...
Destroy all the insects
From butterflies to bees...

Our rivers all run muddy
They are damned, the courses changed
There is nothing on this earth
Man has not re-arranged!..

When the rains fall from Heaven
I imagine it is God's tears
His sadness for the way we do
Our destruction only nears!

When each and every gentle thing
Has vanished with the ages...
Will we be happy with the few
We've crammed in zoos and cages??

And proud when our tiny earth
Is covered in concrete?
When will we learn the animal's fate
Is one we, too, shall meet??!!....
