Real Men
By Lance Landall

So you’re handy with your fists, adept with a knife and gun,
You really know how to hurt, mistreat animals for fun.
Well, you’re just a big bully, who really, weakness displays,
A bully who has issues, and on other people preys.

You’re not acting like a man, as, REAL MEN, don’t act that way,
But rather — higher instincts, not lower instincts — obey.
Any fool can pump iron, puff out his chest, and strut around,
But a real man — isn’t egotistically muscle-bound.

Yes, he may have big muscles, but real men don’t misuse them,
In fact — a real man — all forms of violence will condemn.
A real man’s a protector, the guardian of the weak,
That is, those who’re vulnerable, and help may need to seek.

Kicking someone when they’re down, is an unmanly thing too,
A bully’s cowardly act — it’s spineless, a cruel thing to do.
It’s the gang mentality, and gangs are for weak men too,
For real men stand alone, stand for what’s right, only right do.

A real man will use his head, not his fists, nor weaponry,
For real men embrace wisdom, show love and care, plus mercy.
A real man has a sound mind, a good heart, and kindly ways;
Just uses brawn where rightful, always gentleness displays.

A real man treats women well, and also, his children too,
A real man’s a friend to all, and only peace will pursue.
A real man’s a brick, a pillar, yes, law-abiding too,
He is faithful, transparent, and rights for all — will pursue.

Yes, a real man’s no bully, he’s far too manly for that,
He’s no macho clod, no talebearer, wimp, or copycat.
A real man will sacrifice, lend a hand, put others first,
Yes, a real man will die to self, do his best, not his worst.
