THE ROOF GARDEN AT CEDAR TAVERN
Poetry by J. R. Hyland

John built a better world;
he built it brick by brick
And then he planted it
with trees and poetry.

Butterflies adorned his world;
Blue herons stood transfixed in it
and for a while, fishes swam
within the waters of its heart.

John built a better world
And when he finished it
he entered in.
The trees grew tall; the plants
Grew green.
John grew in grace and love.
