Winter Wonderland
By Mary T. Hoffman
(Written 14 December 2007, after a snowstorm.)

Evergreen branches laden with snow;
Through the clouds, winter’s glow;
Distant horizon with golden light;
On frozen lake a blanket of white.

December’s wonderland is here,
The shortest day of the year draws near;
Silence abounds – not even a peep;
It looks like Nature’s deep in sleep.
