WORLD OF WOE
Poetry by M. Linda Steffey

Oh, this world of woe....
Is it far better dying young?
To never know its sadness?
To feel the pain of living?
To see all this madness?

Living life can hurt
And cause your heart to weep
It can make you lose your mind
And cause you loss of sleep;

But to never see sunrise
To never watch the moon glow
To never see your loved ones
Or never watch your child grow?

To never know the simple joy
Little kittens bring
To never sing on Sunday morn
Or hear the church bell ring?

Life is stirred by laughter
And sometimes mixed with tears..
Blended with security
With big doubts and with fears...

Death is part of living
But some death seems such a waste
By accident, my murder
Or when life is lived in haste!

When death comes too soon
And takes a life away..
We should treasure more our lives
We should kneel to God and pray;

With wars, the killing,.. sadness
With this evil we must tame
With tears my heart still knows
Life's worth living just the same......
