Cucumbers, Natsu Fushinari

Cucumbers, Natsu Fushinari
(Cucumbers, Natsu Fushinari) This natsu fushinari variety od cucumber was developed to offer the flavor and crispness of Japanese cucumbers with an easy-to-grow, single-stem architecture. Many Japanese cucumbers are multi-stemmed, requiring steadfast attention to manage the many side shoots. Natsu – meaning “summer” – brings the high quality of the deep green, thin-skinned Japanese cucumbers with the ease of summer. Natsu Cucumber is also parthenocarpic, meaning that it will set fruit even without pollinators and can be grown indoors. An open pollinated Japanese cucumber with terrific sweet flavour and small seed cavity.  Does well both outside and in the greenhouse. Is not prone to powdery mildew.  Very quick to germinate (2 days for root to emerge).  In Japanese, fushi means “node” and nari means “setting fruit.” We bought ours at Touch of Dutch Farm in Richland Center, Wisconsin. We could not find any comprehensive nutritional information.

Vegan FlagThe above recipe is in keeping with God's creation intent (Genesis 1:29-31): 'Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground-- everything that has the breath of life in it-- I give every green plant for food." And it was so. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.' (NIV) Let no animal suffer or die that we may live!
