(Peppers, Jalapeno Orange Spice) Orange spice jalapeno peppers are a colorful
new heirloom introduced by New Mexico State University (a crossing of the
permagreen bell pepper with the early jalapeno pepper bred by New Mexico State
University. This vibrant, tangerine-orange variety is extra tasty and makes an
amazing salsa. Super ornamental and extremely prolific, these have a wonderful
fruity-citrus taste and are packed with nutrition and some serious heat. A
gourmet treat that adds flavor to the jalapeņo family! Another important fact
about these peppers is that they have a heat index of +/- 79,000 SHU compared to
that of regularly sold jalapeno peppers of 5-10,000 SHU. We bought ours at Touch
of Dutch Farm in Richland Center, Wisconsin. Even though the literature says
that they are packed with nutrition, we could not find any specific nutritional
information for this variety.

The above recipe is in keeping with God's creation intent (Genesis 1:29-31): 'Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground-- everything that has the breath of life in it-- I give every green plant for food." And it was so. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.' (NIV) Let no animal suffer or die that we may live!
