Scolding the Deaf

When He speaks, the world stands still;
Sometimes sad for the speaking, often paralyzed within.
When He speaks, the anticipation holds life in place,
Like a hummingbird, poised in mid air; eating; drinking nectar,
With great striving, yet seemingly effortless.
The hawk was frozen in mid flight; watching; waiting
For Him to finish. It could respond in no other way.
And when the Word was given, it continued living unto itself,
Listening only to the sound of its fluttering wings.
