INFORMATION / TALKING POINTS

Many of you have been closely following the Sleepy Creek Lands (formerly Adena Springs Ranch) consumptive use permit (CUP) application process.

On July 15th, St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD) staff recommended denial of this permit application to pump an additional 1.12 million gallons per day (mgd) out of the aquifer for a cattle ranch operation in Marion County. This recommendation will go to the SJRWMD Governing Board members on August 12th, and we need your help to ensure that the Governing Board supports the staff recommendation.

St. Johns River Water Management District staff have recommended the denial of consumptive use permit (CUP) application #2-083-91926-4, Sleepy Creek North and East Tracts, formerly called Adena Springs Ranch. We ask that you support this decision to deny the CUP application, as it is clear that allowing an additional 1.12 million gallons per day (mgd) to be withdrawn from the aquifer would be detrimental to our water resources. Please support the staff's recommendation, deny the permit application, and protect our water supply and water quality.

Thank you for everything you do for animals!
