INFORMATION

Did you know that an estimated 18 percent of captive elephants carry tuberculosis (TB)—and that they can spread it to humans? The Ringling Bros. circus is a hotbed of TB and has even had infected elephants on the road. Other outfits, such as the UniverSoul Circus, have been prevented from exhibiting elephants because of the disease threat.

Despite the risks, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently announced that it is eliminating any requirement that exhibitors test and treat elephants for TB. This puts elephants, workers, and the public at risk.

Thank you for everything you do for animals!
