We're facing one of the biggest threats to wild horses and burros in years, and we need your help to stop it.
We ask you to oppose this plan now. The freedom and safety of tens of thousands of wild horses and burros depend on us.
Place a call into Representative Nita Lowey, the House Chair of the
Appropriations Committee and a long-time supporter of wild horse protection
at (202) 225-6506 and say,
“Please reject the request for appropriations
language to require the BLM to remove an unprecedented 15,000-20,000 wild
horses from the range and instead support language to require the BLM to
spend a minimum of 5 percent of its budget to implement humane PZP fertility
control programs."

The Cattlemen's lobby is pushing for appropriations legislation that would require the removal of an unprecedented 15,000 to 20,000 wild horses and burros from our public lands in Fiscal Year 2020. That's nothing new, but what is new— and what presents the greatest threat—is that the Humane Society of the United States, the ASPCA, and Return to Freedom are supporting the plan.
The groups are supporting the plan based on a vague promise that the BLM will implement "population growth suppression" to the horses left on the range with no parameters on what method can be used and no guarantees for the long-term safety of the tens of thousands of wild horses and burros who will be removed from their homes on the range over the next several years.
Thank you for everything you do for animals!
