An Example From the King Of Birds

Indeed, I’ve just been learning from the writings of a lady evangelist in America about the wonderful stamina of the eagle that’s reached an older and more mature age. Realising that it has long past the years of a birds vitality and youth, the creature flies away to a rock ledge near the sun and, undisturbed by other birds, begins to pluck out the old feathers which have become such an encumbrance due to being damaged and mite and mud infested! Literally thousands of its old appendages that have become an encumbrance rather than a lift, it pulls out. Yes, quite a painful process! But the aging bird tolerates this for the purpose of future progress. The fact is that this will make way for new feathers to form while it bathes under the presence of the sun.

Then, after around a forty-day period (a biblical period of testing!) the bird is physically and mentally recharged; and that is why the Good Book says that: “They who wait upon The Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as does the eagle. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint” . Then, for you folk who are reading this newsletter – and some are octogenarians like myself – do not become introverted cabbages!  Rather, ‘wait upon The Lord’. Cast away all those unnecessary encumbrances and - after time spent in the presence of the Sun of Righteousness - you’ll be able to soar as you previously did in your youth.

Indeed, I’ll apply the above to myself and ask you to do likewise. The animal cause undoubtedly needs youth on its side, but it more than ever needs those who have the wisdom of the years to steer and guide it!  Yes, and that is You dear reader as well as my most unworthy self.  Then may God bless and guide us all in to renewed action; interspersed with intervals of both meditation as well as mirth: ‘Come ye apart and rest awhile’, said Jesus who was’ no kill joy!’  For  ‘In His presence is fullness of joy.’

Go on to Two World Wars that church leaders could well have stopped!
