Dear Leisa:
We're sorry about the misunderstanding.
We need to remember that the entire sacrificial system comes from pagan
lands, where they believed that they must offer blood sacrifices to appease
God, or their gods.
God Himself says that He wants obedience and not sacrifice, and all of these
sacrificial descriptions are being given to an ungodly world that is not
being obedient to God, so at best these are reluctant concessions by God to
limit the depravity of human beings. It is also very interesting to note
that all of these Leviticus instruction only became part of the Bible in the
400+ BCE writings of Ezra and the other priestly writers.
