A Mary T. Hoffman Commentary from All-Creatures.org

"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

Fashions – 17 August 2006
By Mary T. Hoffman

I guess it’s an “age thing.” I just can’t understand why anyone would want to wear the fashions that are so popular with young people today. Just one more reason I’m glad to be a senior citizen.

What’s with those short sweaters (?) for girls that tie in the middle of the chest? How can such skimpy sweaters keep them warm? And speaking of keeping warm, what about those low-cut pants with short tops! All that skin exposed, even in winter! Br-r-r!

It’s bad enough for teenagers to dress like this, but little ones do, too. And the patterns and colors mixed together make them look like ragamuffins!

If a few years ago someone had told me that this fad would catch on, I probably wouldn’t have believed it. It’s time for the pendulum to swing in the opposite direction and bring some sanity to fashions.
