A Mary T. Hoffman Commentary from All-Creatures.org

"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

Parkinson’s Disease – 12 August 2007
By Mary T. Hoffman

Yesterday I wrote about my experience with dairy products and how my health improved after taking my husband’s advice to permanently eliminate all dairy products from my diet. That was nearly 20 years ago, and ever since that time I have been learning more about health.

So, I found it very interesting when I read that the American Journal of Epidemiology* published a new study that links the consumption of dairy products with an increased risk for Parkinson’s disease. Researchers studied this association among 388 men and women with Parkinson’s disease participating in the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Prevention Study II. Those who consumed the most dairy milk had a 70 percent greater risk for the disease.

The increasing evidence linking dairy products to various health problems makes me even more grateful that I stopped the dairy habit years ago.
