A Mary T. Hoffman Commentary from

"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

United Poultry Concerns – 13 August 2007
By Mary T. Hoffman

Today we received the Summer/Fall issue of Poultry Press, the publication of United Poultry Concerns, a “nonprofit organization promoting the compassionate and respectful treatment of domestic fowl in laboratories, classrooms, factory farms, and entertainment.” The Founder and President of this outstanding organization is Karen Davis, PhD, one of my favorite human beings whom I admire for her compassion and integrity.

We have heard Karen Davis speak and have been to her sanctuary in Virginia. She truly “walks the walk” in her advocacy for those who are viciously maligned and suffer unspeakable horrors in our society and around the world: poultry.

Karen Davis has proven that she is a hero: she has the courage to live her ideals while working to bring about positive, peaceful change.
