Ice Storm

Ice Storm – 12 December 2008

This morning we woke up to an ice storm which had caused an electric power failure around midnight. Outside, everything was covered with ice that glistened in the daylight, and several trees had fallen. Around noontime, under strong sunlight some of the ice on the bare branches began to melt which created an absolutely beautiful sight. Electric power was restored around 4:00 PM.

By coincidence, the latest issue of the Vegetarian Voice magazine, which we received in yesterday’s mail, had an article titled “Dining in the Dark: Be Prepared to Eat Well When the Power Goes Out” by Jon Robertson. Included was a basic pantry list, as well as some yummy recipes!

"Joyful Curmudgeon"
An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
