Curious One

We meet
curious one

As I walk toward you
Small moment
of trust

Witness to the silence
of evening
Faded light
End of day

What lingers behind
those deep brown eyes
that watch me,
observe

What is unspoken to me?
Your fate
Your end

I will never know
but - can imagine
and I hope for
better days

You are forever
burned into memory
small soul
precious creature
