J.H. Dickinson Poetry, Essays and Art By J.H. Dickinson from All-Creatures.org

I see my truth

A whisper
Hush of morn
Bathed in gold
We eye each other
Species apart
Connected in autumnal breath

You grunt and taste the air
Breathe me in
You are attuned

I am disconnected
From earth
Jet soil
Ripple of life beneath me

I sit atop cold stone wall
And try to recall
My roots
Ancestral home
Ache of stillness

You watch me
Dark eyes fixed
Heart ablaze
And in your gaze

I see my truth

title and cow through fence at sunrise
