FREEDOM AND WILD HORSES

Wild horses belong to wind and rain
And to the earth and sky
Where prairie country stretches wide
Out there where eagles fly;
Yonder where the sagebrush blooms
And where dust-devil's king
Where canyons are shaded pink and red
And desert winds sing;
Oh, can't you see them running free
Coats glistening in the sun?
Heads held high in pride
As they romp and play in fun;
Run, you beauties! Lift your voice
And echo across this land
Forever my heart roams with you
Fight for freedoms stand...
Perhaps I'll never see you
Your right to life, I'll care
Content to know you exist
Just knowing you're out there!
To me you are the essence
The symbol of the free..
For what we fought for long ago
For this land from sea to sea!
Your fighting spirit's something
That is beautiful to me
Like when I hear the Anthem played
Old Glory waving free!
Not many things are free today
Men conquer and they change
They won't let eagles soar the blue
Or horses roam the range!
It's pretty sad the way men do
The way they treat each other..
For them I pray they soon will learn
That you're also their brother!
You don't belong to any man
Just Mother Earth, the Sky
to freedom's spirit everywhere
Where hawks and eagles fly!....
