PIE DOUGH FOR ANY OCCASION
Makes a double crust, 9 inch pie shell

Though this is a very basic recipe, it’s very versatile. You can use any type of flour, and it works well for sweet, as well as dinner, pies.

2 cups flour of your choice
1 tsp. sea salt
2/3 cup shortening (such as Spectrum-brand) or vegan margarine
2 Tbsp. Chilled vegan margarine
4 Tbsp. ice water

  1. Sift together the flour and sea salt.
  2. Combine the shortening and margarine.
  3. Cut half of the shortening into the flour mixture with fingertips until it’s pea-sized clumps. Then cut remaining shortening/margarine in until it resembles a coarse meal.
  4. Sprinkle with the ice water, and combine to form a dough ball.

May be rolled out and used at once, or refrigerated/frozen.
