The NYS Dept of Environmental 'Conservation' is offering free sponsored hunts, "to benefit youth, women, first-time hunters, veterans, people with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups to gain hands-on experience in the field." (Below) This is not 'conservation' and benefits no one but the DEC, who profits from new hunting licenses etc; especially youth should never be taught how to kill innocent beings for fun. The DEC considers our wildlife to be mere 'training tools;' they are not. NOTE: This announcement also offers to help the public sponsor their own Pheasant Hunts. This shameful killing of birds raised as babies by people, to then be slaughtered in 'canned hunts,' is blatant animal cruelty and needs to be abolished. We began addressing this issue at our first meeting with the DEC and it will be continued.
Pls contact DEC Commissioner Amanda Lefton and politely tell her it's time this 'conservation' agency turns away from harming wildlife, which is not conservation. Commissioner Lefton promised to 'make changes' when she recently became commissioner; it's time for a change.
